Scope/Purpose of the Position

Responsible for completing more complex compliance projects within the Compliance department. 


  Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions  


  • Under the supervision of lead or senior staff complete file examinations, review requests for redisclosure, and assist sales and operations staff with complying with Prospect procedures
  • Complete special assignments and ad hoc reviews delegated by Compliance Management
  • Conduct loan file examinations; perform systematic examinations of state and federal regulations governing the mortgage lending industry.
  • Responsible for maintaining and uploading examination results into the Compliance systems
  • Assist senior staff in determining areas of risk to focus on during the examinations, and other related assigned duties.
  • Reading and understanding reports, validating and analyzing examination findings, identifying best practices and apprising senior management.  Follow through with the implementation of new processes.
  • Assist in training other team members
  • Maintaining a high level of quality production
  • Represent the compliance department recommendations internally and externally.
  • Tracking and monitoring daily production
  • Prioritizing tasks in order to meet internal deadlines and company goals and ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
  • Collecting and coordinating internal compliance data with Compliance staff
  • Demonstrate and encourage integrity and alignment with Company Vision, Mission and Values
  • Ability and willingness to train other staff
  • Demonstrate initiative on assignments and projects.
  • Miscellaneous duties, as required

Work Experience and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of multi-state regulatory requirements for mortgage banking
  • Good understanding of the alphabet soup of compliance regulations (RESPA, TILA (QM/ATR), ECOA, FCRA, , HMDA,
  • Ability to quickly grasp and understand new information regarding mortgage banking practices, procedures, terminology and documents
  • Strong data analysis skills; attention to detail;
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening) including ability to communicate professionally with senior examiners and managers.
  • High-level system proficiency for finding data
  • PC Skills (MS Office, Outlook)
  • Multi-tasking skills; excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fluid and rapidly changing environment
  • Willingness to do more than basic job requirements as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent skills and knowledge in mortgage, banking, finance or auditing.
  • Specialized Experience: 3-10 years’ of progressively responsible professional experience in the mortgage banking industry.
  • Additional Experience: Demonstrated skills in managing complex projects.  Works well independently and within a team environment, Ability to execute on short deadlines with strict attention to detail and producing quality results.
  • Previous experience in finance or banking industry required.
