Scope/Purpose of the Position


The purpose of this position is to determine the application or rejection of funds on delinquent loans. Payments must be dispositioned within investor, insurer, and regulatory guidelines.


Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Review and process all delinquent, foreclosure, and bankruptcy payments to include application or rejection
  • Process application of all liquidation and claims proceeds
  • Monitor suspense funds for default loans for processing
  • Review and process of all payoff quote requests from Default associates
  • Provide assistance in the default invoicing process
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Default Cash team and Accounting
  • Process and reconcile NSF payment reversals and fee assessments
  • Assist in management of Hardest Hit Funds process
  • Review and process all incoming Default payment inquiries from Default teams as well as other departments within Servicing

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be very knowledgeable of investor and insurer guidelines pertaining to payment application.
  • Must be comfortable applying knowledge to make cash disposition decisions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and apply sound business math
  • Ability to analyse and resolve routing problems within estimated time frames
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a 10 key calculator
  • Comfortable with a highly technical environment utilizing computers, software and programs
  • Intermediate or greater knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to rapidly acquire detailed knowledge of departmental policies, practices and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with minimal management oversight
  • Ability to adapt to rapid change
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours as dictated by the business

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree or sufficient work experience
  • Basic accounting skills
  • 3-5 years of cradle to grave working knowledge of Default Loan Servicing
  • 3-5 years of loan servicing payment processing
  • Working knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA Default servicing guidelines
  • Prefer FiServ/LoanServ experience
